There is a new option in System Preferences to erase all user data on his Mac. The new macOS allows the users to reset a Mac without reinstalling the system. In macOS Monterey, the Go to the Folder search panel has a new design, the progress window is now displayed as a pie chart and it’s possible to pause and resume long files copies. Apple will provide default modes, but you can create your own modes. For example, you set up a Work mode and allow showing only work-related notifications, or you want to have a rest and block work messages for a while. With the Focus feature, you can even filter types of notifications you want to receive. This feature will be loved by those who want to stay focused during the work and stop receiving any notifications during this period of time. What is the most amazing thing is that the callers can create playlists in Apple TV and Apple Music. While on a FaceTime call, the users can share the videos they watch, the music they listen to, the application they like. In iOS, Share Play will be supported in version 15. SharePlay is a new feature in FaceTime allowing users to share media in real-time. Also, Tab Groups synchronize across Apple devices, which means that you can start working on your Mac and then continue your project on your iPhone or iPad. Tab Groups allow the users to easily save and manage tabs, grouping them in different categories depending on the theme, task field, or daily visits. The Safari browser gets a new design supporting Tab Groups. Read also: “ How to use AirPlay on Mac.” Safari improvements Shortcuts on macOS are integrated with Finder, Spotlight, menu bar, and even with Siri. This means that you can run shortcuts from anywhere on your Mac and sync them with your iPhone and iPad if they are compatible. It’s possible to customize shortcuts and make them system-wide. Now the users can create automations for most used applications also on a Mac. Like in iOS and iPadOS, the Shortcuts application arrived with the new macOS. With Universal Control you can even navigate between three devices: Mac, MacBook and iPad. Of course, you need to use the same iCloud account on both your Mac and iPad to be able to use Universal Control. All you need to do is to keep your devices close to each other and their Bluetooth modules will automatically synchronize them. Universal Control uses WiFi connection or USB. Now you don’t even need an AirDrop to transfer your files. The magic is that you can just drag files between your devices. With Universal Control your Mac keyboard and mouse now work with iPad. Below we will share the key features you should know that are coming with the Monterey update. Monterey is the first major update to macOS after Big Sur.
Having a bit of overlapping between ramp up and drop down make the speed changes a bit smoother. Once the temperature drops down to 40 degrees thinkfan will change the fan speed to level 1. When the temperature reaches 42☌, thinkfan will change the fan speed to level 2. Let’s take a few entries as an example to better understand what happens there: third item – is the temperature at which thinkfan should step up the fan speed to the next level.second item – is the temperature at which thinkfan should drop the fan speed to the previous level.first item – is the fan speed level to use.I use the simple mode here, since ThinkPad P14s is a relatively small device and one component heating up contributes to the heating of the whole device, so using the highest temperature of all sensors work well.Įach entry of this section is an array of 3 values, where: In simple mode thinkfan will use the highest temperature of all sensors to determine fan speed, while with detailed mode you can configure fan speed on per sensor basis. Thinkfan has 2 modes of fan speed configuration – simple and detailed. In this section we configure the fan speed and temperature levels to enable this fan speed. By the way, make sure you did the first step of TL DR section in order to be able to control the fan speed. It specifies the path to the interface to control fan. ThinkPad P14s only has one fan, therefore not much to configure in that section. acpitz – measures motherboard temperature (or at least this is what I expect it to measure, not 100% sure about it).So, we use all sensors available:Īnd correct the temperature of the first sensor by -5 degrees: Therefore I decided to correct this sensor’s temperature by -5 degrees to prevent the fan spinning up when it’s not really needed. I’ve noticed that during light internet browsing temperature of that sensor was typically higher than CPU temperature (I suppose because of browser using cache), while during heavy load CPU was hotter. There are 3 sensors available, where the first one is a composite sensor. After all exclusions, this is what we have in the configuration: Sensors 1 and 2 report CPU and GPU temperatures respectively, and since I already have other sensors to monitor CPU and GPU, I’ve excluded them as well. In my case sensor with index 8 is unavailable and sensor with index 4 always return 0, therefore I excluded them. thinkpad (#Chassis) – measures CPU, GPU and chassis temperature.Since there are sensors for every core, it feels redundant to use the package sensor as well, therefore we ignore it with this option: My ThinkPad P14s has 4 physical cores, therefore there are 5 sensors available: 1 sensor for the whole package + 1 sensor per core. coretemp (#CPU) – measures CPU temperature.Technically, thinkfan should support devices that can be removed/suspended, but there’s a bug preventing it from working properly in daemon mode. And this is what we’re using the sensor with index 1 for – to measure the GPU temperature. Instead such sensors show negative values here. tpacpi (#GPU) – this array of sensors represents pretty much the same temperatures as the one below (the chassis one), but with a little difference: the sensors are never missing here even if the device is offline (like GPU for example).A you can see, we have multiple hwmon entries having different names in the configuration file, here’s what they are: We use it to monitor CPU, SSD, WLAN and other devices’ temperature. hwmon – specifies a generic temperature sensor.Using nvml prevents the GPU from switching to suspend power state, causing battery drain and high temperatures. ‼️ IMPORTANT‼️: avoid using nvml option (temperatures read from proprietary nVidia GPU driver). Sensors section of the configuration file describes all the thermal sensors thinkfan will use to keep an eye on the temperature. If you’re interested in what exactly all the above-mentioned configuration options do, welcome to this deep dive section. With this configuration the fan will be kept at a reasonably quiet level while still allowing you to use the ThinkPad on top of your laps. Configure thinkfan to use the newly created fileĮcho 'THINKFAN_ARGS="-c /etc/nf"' | sudo tee -a /etc/default/thinkfan.Create a new thinkfan configuration file.Echo 'options thinkpad_acpi fan_control=1' | sudo tee /lib/modprobe.d/thinkpad_nf Even very optimized emulation is likely to be between 10 and 100 times slower than native code, thus limiting what can be emulated convincingly today (particularly given the real-time interactivity implied by a game console emulator). An RTL simulation (a simulation of all the gates and flip-flops that make up a chip) of a modern CPU can usually only run between 10Hz and a few hundred Hz. To put things into perspective, an architectural simulator (a program which can run, for example, a PowerPC program on an x86 machine and collect all sorts of statistics about it) might run between 1000x and 100000x slower than real-time. Reverse engineering is getting less and less feasible for hobbyists to do. Compounding this difficulty is the fact that communication between CPU, GPU, any other onboard DSPs, and memory was probably highly optimized on the console to take advantage of the specifics of the hardware configuration, and therefore these resources must be rate-matched as well.Ĭompounding all these difficulties, usually little is known about the specifics of the console's hardware, as this is kept very much under wraps by design. That makes it difficult to go back to 3 and 4 (which are rather similar to each other mechanically), and I feel they both have notably stronger characters than 5. P5 Royal is great, but its heavily streamlined over its predecessors in terms of gameplay. Unless the console's GPU is old, it almost certainly must be emulated on the GPU of the host machine, as modern graphics cards, even cheap ones, have many times the throughput (for graphics workloads) of even the most expensive multicore CPUs. Id say Persona 4 Golden is the best one to start on. chips as well as a CPU with a different instruction set, the emulator must perform all the functions of these parallel resources at speed. That is, while the original console may have had dedicated graphics, audio, etc. Emulation means to perform in software everything that the original hardware did. The CPU architecture for game consoles is often somewhat exotic compared with your average desktop machine. With fantastic games like Persona 4 Golden available on the system, Android gamers are about to get a huge library of brilliant games. The question "What makes building game console emulators so hard" has got an accepted answer by Matt J with the score of 25: It’s hard not to be excited about Vita3K on Android, though. Plenty of emulation devs have abandoned projects due to fan whining. With this in mind, let the developer work without hassle. Pwede siya kaso need mo emulator paps (Egg NS, Skyline), pero as far as I know di pa talaga optimized yung mga emulator ng Switch sa Android and baka. Even then, it has a host of visual glitches.Įmulation development takes a lot of time, even if you’re truly knowledgable about the systems you’re working with. However, that software has only just been able to run Super Mario Odyssey (a first party game) at 60fps. Even if the Android PSVita emulator releases, it could be years until it’s fully playable.Īfter all, the best Android Nintendo Switch emulator Skyline has been out for around nine months. Have fun playing the amazing Shin Megami Tensei - Persona 4 game for Sony PlayStation 2. While this has been done with other emulators, it’s no easy feat. Yes, this isn’t much, but it’s impressive for now.Īccording to one comment, the challenge of creating this emulator will be porting Vita3K’s Dynarmic CPU emulation to Android’s ARM64. Currently, the Vita3K port has a working Vulcan renderer that can render its own GUI. Nevertheless, the Android PSVita emulator looks promising. Unlike the best PS2 emulators or the best 3DS emulators, there’s not years of programming here. While Vita emulation is in a good place on PC, it’s still in a very early state. Of course, this is still in very early development. A port of the brilliant PC software, this emulator will let you play PlayStation Vita games on Android in the future. First Android PSVita emulator enters developmentĪs reported on Reddit, the PC emulation platform Vita3K is coming to Android. Currently in very early development, this emulator will allow the PlayStation Vita to live on via mobile. The emulation scene gets a new challenger with the first Android PSVita emulator. The emulator runs smoothly and allows you to play popular titles with customized PC controls or your touchscreen. Gaming is going to be the primary use case for many BlueStacks users and I think they'll be happy with it. I ran into a few stutters that affected my gameplay but for the most part, I could play Breakneck well, or at least almost every time I crashed was my fault and not BlueStacks'. I use a Matebook X Pro which isn't a powerhouse but does have an MX150 in it to give it a little extra oomph. Performance of BlueStacks is going to vary depending on your hardware. This is a great addition to BlueStacks and makes it easy to play games like PUBG, some would say too easy. You can map keys on a per game basis, create custom tap spots on your screen that you can map to specific keys, and even use you mouse to aim and shoot (though many would consider that unfair). BlueStacks 4 allows you to create custom keyboard maps to make sure that you can play mobile games with your keyboard setup. The vast remainder of games tested ran just as well as running them on an actual phone with decent specs. One of the most important features for an emulator is keyboard mapping. Fifa Mobile also ran acceptably at 27.8 FPS average at 720p, with the default settings. In Asphalt 8 Airborn at 720p, with the default settings, we averaged 27.7 FPS with no stuttering, making the game an enjoyable experience. There were occasional stutters, with drops to 16 FPS, particularly in the middle of combat. Our mid-range PC got an average of 35.8 FPS while playing PUBG at 720p, low settings. Performance will vary depending on your system. An icon to delete the game will appear next to the launch icon. To uninstall a game, simply click and hold on its icon in the Bluestacks home screen. Using a VPN might help solve region related issues. Some games like Darkness Rises might not run due to region login restrictions. This involves risks as there’s no way of knowing if the APK has been tampered with (it could contain a virus or miner, for instance), so follow Bluestack’s advice at your own risk. Bluestacks support recommends that you download the APK file from a third party source when this happens. In some cases you will get games that give you a message saying the game is not compatible with your device. So if you want to run games without sound, I recommend using a free Windows app called EarTrumpet, which lets you mute sound from Windows programs individually. I couldn’t find an option in Bluestacks for quickly turning off sound for individual games without going into the android settings menu. A more powerful CPU like an 8th-gen Intel Core i7 or Ryzen 7 might be required to play some of the more demanding games. Some games like Asphalt 9 would crash in the loading screen, changing the Render Engine to DirectX did not seem to help, although the crash could also have been due to the CPU not being powerful enough to handle such a demanding game (Ryzen 5 1400). Other controls include adding tap spots, pinch-to-zoom, panning shots (which is particularly useful for first person shooters), and a MOBA skill pad which allows you to map directional spells. Thanks to Xpadder, whenever you press a button or thumbstick in your controller Bluestacks will interpret it as a keyboard key being pressed, allowing you to control your games in this way. If you want to use a controller, then assign the same keyboard keys to the two analog sticks (in this case we’re using the xbox 360 controller) in Xpadder and save it as a profile. If you don’t have a controller, then just hit Save and you are good to go. This time assign the arrows keys to the respective directions. Place a second D-pad in the bottom right, on top of the right thumb virtual input. Click and hold “D-pad” and drag it to the bottom left of the screen where the left virtual pad is displayed, and assign the keys WASD to the Up, Left, Down and Right directions respectively. The option we are looking for is called D-pad, and we will be adding two of them to our play area, one for each thumb input. Next, click on the “open keyboard controls UI” button at the bottom and a menu will pop-up. After launching PewPew, head over to the tutorial.
